Bitler, Mike

'96 Boys Blue

Profile: Mike holds the National USSF "D" License and is currently the coach of the Holy Cross Middle School Varsity boys soccer team. He has played soccer for 16 years. He played 4 years at USF where he was a captain for two years. Mike was also Honorable Mention All American for 2 years and was All Conference for 2 years. He led the team in goals 3 of of the 4 years. Mike ended his career with 40 goals and 14 assists. At USF he is All Time 3rd Place in goals and 3rd in points. Coach Bitler has been coaching for 4 years. He spent 1 season with Dave Bokhart and the last 3 years with Mitch Ellisen, and participated in the Goal to Goal soccer camp in the summer '05.

Borjas, Luis

Staff Coach

Profile: Luis Cesar Borjas holds a USSF E license. Luis was Born in Mexico City. In 1983-84 he played for the professional team Chivas Youth team in Mexico City. In 1985 Luis played Alcones a professional 3rd Division team in Mexico City. In 1986-87 he moved to Santos and reached the final of the state cup tournament. Luis came to the USA in 1990 where he played for the LA Club and the FWSC for about 5 years.

Castillo, Francisco J. (Paco)

Trainer; '94 Boys White, '94 Boys Blue

Profile: Coach Castillo holds the National USSF ”D” License, NSCAA State Diploma, and Goalkeeping Diploma. He is the head coach for the Homestead varsity boys’ soccer team where he is responsible for the overall development of the student athletes. He also serves as head coach for the Summit Middle School Boys’ soccer team. Prior to joining Citadel FC, Coach Castillo spent four years as a head coach with the Fort Wayne Fever Soccer Academy, coaching three teams. While at Fever Academy he started the Elite Juniors developmental program. Coach Castillo was a head coach at Citadel FC from 1994-2003, where he was responsible for the 1984 age group which was made up of three teams. He was in charge of the overall development of the players beginning at age 10 through 19. His team was honored as Indiana State Finalists in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002. He helped the team to become Indiana State Champions as well as Midwest Regional Semi-finalists in 2001. The team was ranked #8 in the USA during the year 2001. Cruz, Carlos

Trainer; '96 Boys White, '97 Girl White

Profile: Coach Cruz holds the National USSF "D" License and is approaching his 12th year of coaching at the youth select, travel and high school levels. Coach Cruz serves as the assistant head coach for the Bishop Dwenger boy’s soccer team, which during his tenure obtained five SAC titles and a semi-state qualifier. He is a member of the Indiana High School Soccer Coaches Association and is the Director for Cruzbol International, LLC premier soccer development school, which was founded in 2005. Before joining the Citadel team, Coach Cruz was a member of the USF soccer team where he led his team in goals 1992 through 1995 and assists in 1993. He holds the record today for the most assists in a season (since 1993). In 1990 and 1991, he had the privilege to train with two first division professional teams in Mexico, which helped define his passionate coaching style today. A native of NWI/Chicago land area, Coach Cruz was selected First Team All-Conference as a high school player (1989-1992), and as captain, his Senior year led his team to the State Cup receiving First Team All-State honors. Coach Cruz is married with four children, two of whom currently play for the Citadel Futbol Club.

'89 Boys, '93 Boys White

Profile: Coach Ellison holds the National USSF "A" license. He currently serves as the head coach of the University of St. Francis men’s soccer team, and has compiled a collegiate coaching record of 160-125-11 in his 15 year career. He is currently past-president of the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Association; he's on the NSCAA All American Committee, and is a NAIA representative. He is active in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Association at the national and regional levels, where he has served as an officer since 1995. Coach Ellison has earned “Coach of the Year” recognition in 1997, 1998, and 2002. Coach Ellison came to Fort Wayne from Maine where he was the men's head soccer coach at Husson College. In addition he served as the Coaching Director for the Maine State Soccer Association, where he was a coach in the Maine Olympic Development Program. Coach Ellison was a member of the men’s varsity soccer team at the University of Charleston, WV.

Profile: Coach Evard holds the National USSF "D" license and has been focusing on the development of young players for the past four years. In addition to working with the Citadel U10 players, Coach Evard is the U6 coordinator for FWUSA Academy. Coach Evard has been instrumental in setting up a successful Academy program comes to Citadel with extensive experience teaching the technical and fun aspects of the game to young players. He has worked the Future Stars, St Joe Mites, and Coerver Coaching events for the past several years, and it shows in the finely tuned presentations. Coach Evard also works with Cory Rodgers, with Columbia Soccer Academy, and Coerver Coaching, to develop players of all ages.

Feher, Jozsef

'97 Boys White

Coach Feher holds the National USSF "B" License. He is in his 13th year of coaching, and has served as the head coach at Leo and South Side High Schools, where in 2004 the South Side girls experienced their first-ever sectional championship. Coach Feher also served as an assistant at the University of St. Francis and is a member of the NSCAA, the USSF Soccer Coaches Organization, and Indiana High School Coaches Organization. In 2006 Coach Feher coached the Citadel ’94 Boys team to the State Challenge Cup finals where the team finished as state runner up. Coach Feher’s playing career was in Romania, his native home.

Gomez, Sal

'95 Girls White

Profile: Coach Gomez holds the National USSF "D" License. In addition, Coach Gomez holds a Level 7 Referee License, officiating at area high school and middle school matches. He serves as boys’ head coach at Garrett High School and has coached at Eastside and DeKalb High Schools. He is the Director of the Chivas Summer Soccer Camp program, a program that has trained hundreds of Auburn area youth. Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Coach Gomez was a reserve player for the Chivas semi-professional team.

Hanewald, Tom

Profile: Tom holds the National USSF “E” coaching license and been active in the Fort Wayne soccer community for the last ten years; coaching recreational, select, and travel teams. During this time, he has served the Fort Wayne United Soccer Association in a variety of roles. He has been an Assistant Coach for the Citadel Travel Division for five years, a head coach and assistant for the Select Division for five years (also coaching the Select All-Stars), and a Select Division board member for four years. In addition, he has coached travel level at the Fort Wayne Sport Club and recreational for Three Rivers Youth Soccer Association. Tom enjoys helping team members to develop as soccer players and equally important as respectful and determined young men. Tom was born and raised in New Jersey and is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City. He relocated to Fort Wayne in 1991 with his wife, Maria, and their two sons.

Trainer, '92 Boys White, '92 Boys Blue

Profile: Coach Hazard holds the National USSF A License and is the head men's soccer coach at Tri-State University (TSU). Coach Hazard is on the NSCAA regional ranking committee for Division III soccer and is on the Indiana Olympic Development Program staff. Prior to moving to Indiana, Coach Hazard was the Assistant Head Coach at Wittenberg University and also coached for the Ohio Futbol Club, Team Dayton, and Team Ohio, and was the Technical Director/Trainer for the Springfield Soccer Club. A graduate of Wittenberg University, Coach Hazard was a member of the men’s soccer team and served as team captain. In his senior season, he was selected as a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference Second-Team All-Conference and voted Wittenberg’s Team Most Valuable Player. Coach Hazard is a native of Hartford, Connecticut and a former All-state and All-New England high school soccer player.

Profile: Coach Hein holds the National USSF “D” license. Coach Hein serves Citadel FC as the head coach for both the ’97 boys’ and girls’ teams. A former Fort Wayne Fever Academy coach, Coach Hein’s focus at Citadel FC is on developing the technical skills of our youngest players. In addition, as part of the Indiana Olympic Development Program (ODP), Coach Hein is the assistant head coach for the U15 boys’ team. A graduate of IPFW, Coach Hein was a member of the men’s soccer team where he was named first team All-American his senior year and was drafted to the WISL’s Utah Freeze in 1999.

Goalkeeper Trainer, '94 Girls White

Profile: Coach Hollman holds the National USSF "D" License. He serves as the Citadel FC Goalkeeper Trainer and Staff Coach. He was the assistant head coach for Heritage High School Boys’ team from 1996 – 1998 and Heritage’s girls assistant head coach from 1998 – 2000, and was a member of the Olivet College Men’s Soccer team. A native of Fort Wayne, Coach Hollman attended Concordia High School where he was a member of the varsity team and team captain for two years.

Profile: Janna holds the USSF "E" License. She played varsity soccer and lettered all four years in high school, and was All-Conference in 2001-2003 and All-District in 2002, 2003. She decided to forego scholarships and be a normal student at Purdue University. Janna continued to play intramural soccer there all four years. She just completed her undergraduate degree at Purdue in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. Janna is in the process of applying to graduate schools.

Lawson, Russ

Profile: Coach Lawson holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and the National USSF "D" License. Coach Lawson is Coordinator of Recreational Programming/Varsity Men's Soccer Coach/Intramural Director at Huntington University. Coach Lawson graduated from Huntington College in 1991 and headed the college’s soccer program from 1994-1997. As a player at Huntington he was a three-year starter for the Foresters and a member of two of the most successful soccer teams in the school’s recent history. The 1988-89 team went 14-6 during his sophomore season, and 20-5 the following year, which included a Mid-Central Conference co-Championship, NCCAA District III and NAIA District 21 Championships, and a third place finish at the NCCAthe National Tournament. Lawson was selected as an MCC All-Conference midfielder during his final two seasons.

Profile: Kevin started playing soccer in the Pepsi League, then he played 12 years for the McDonalds Youth Select League and seven years with Citadel. Kevin was also on the State ODP team for seven years. He played 10 years in the Mexican Amateur League. Kevin is currently a trainer for Coerver and a coach at South Side High School.

Profile: Jim Lipocky holds a USSF National “C” License and an NSCAA National Diploma. Jim is the Indiana Tech Head Women's Soccer Coach. Coach Lipocky is a native of Akron, OH and he brings over twenty years of coaching experience to Citadel. Coach Lipocky was a member of the Kent State Golden Flashes soccer team and began his coaching career at several local high schools in the Akron area and coached at the club level for Ohio Premier. His first collegiate coaching position was at Felician College (Lodi, NJ) where he started the men’s soccer program. After Felician, Coach Lipocky was the Head Women’s Soccer / Softball Coach at Daniel Webster College (Nashua, NH) and the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at the State University of New York Institute of Technology (Utica, NY). At Daniel Webster College, he coached two-time All-Conference player Cori Morrison and at SUNYIT, he trained Brittany Aversa, who would become the school’s all time leading scorer. In November of 2007, he accepted the Head Women’s Soccer position at Indiana Tech. Coach Lipocky resides in New Haven with his wife Cynthia and their sons Aidan and Cian and their daughter Kiera.

Profile: Coach Mauch holds the NSCA National Diploma. Greg is the Canterbury High School's boys coach. He and his teams have made Canterbury one of the "winningest" high schools in Indiana with 3 State Championships and 9 Final Fours. Greg has been named Indiana Coach of the Year in '97, '98, '01 and '02. He was NSCAthe National Coach of the Year in '98, and in '98 and '02 he was named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year. In his 25 years of experience Greg has coached 7 All-Americans, 12 Regional All-Americans, and 5 Indiana High School Players of the Year.

'97 Boys Blue, Staff Coach

Profile: Miguel holds a USSF National “D” Coaches License. He was born in Michoacán, Mexico, where his playing experience includes his High School team who were the State Champions in 1984.  He played club ball with his hometown team and won the state championship with them in 1986. Miguel played one season for second division Mexican league, team Zamora. He is the founder of the first Hispanic school of soccer in Fort Wayne, Club Chivitas. He is still actively playing as an amateur.

Citadel FC Director of Coaching, '92 Girls White, '91 Boys White

Profile: Citadel's Director of Coaching and Player Development. Was named the 2007 Indiana Youth Soccer (IYS) DOC of the Year. Coach Rabi holds an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma and the National USSF Coaching License. Prior to moving to Fort Wayne, Coach Rabi served as Director of Training for Bota Fogo Futbol Club (BFC) in Kansas. Coach Rabi has coached teams to multiple state and regional championships over his 20+ year coaching career. As head coach for the BFC U17 & 18 Girls, his teams competed in and won over 20 tournaments from 2001 – 2004. As head coach he led the Kansas Select semi-professional soccer team to consecutive league championships from 2000 – 2002. At Newman University he held the position of women & men’s assistant soccer coach from 1998-2001. Coach Rabi is well known for preparing players for Division I, II & III college soccer opportunities. His methods of training follow the Brazilian style of play which was utilized during his playing/coaching career.

Profile: Victor holds the National USSF "D" license. He was born in Michoacán, Mexico. He played from 1993-94 for La Piedad-2nd division Mexican Professional League, 1992-93 Victor played for La Piedad-3rd division Mexican Professional League (Promoted to 2nd division), in 1988-1991, Victor played for the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara-2nd Division Mexican Professional League, and in 1982, he played for UNAM Universidad Nacional de Mexico-2nd division Mexican Professional League.

Victor was the Manager of the 2000-02 Club Arandas, 3rd division Mexican Professional League. In 1995-96 was the assistant Coach for Colegio Vasco de Quiroga School team that advanced to the Nacional’s School Tournament in Mexico.

Rodgers, Cory

FWUSA Academy Director, '95 Boys White

Profile: Coach Rodgers holds a USSF National Youth License and a USSF National "D" License . Cory is in his 17th year of coaching, having started at age 16 with a U8 girls team. Cory was involved with the early Fundamentals curriculum, which focused on the same type of skills based training as the new FWUSA Academy does. A pioneer program, the Fundamentals training, and it's eventual successor the Future Stars, featured an emphasis on learning and loving the game. Coach Rodgers has been heavily involved in this aspect of the local community through both programs, and now prepares to culminate that in the new FWUSA Academy.

Coach Rodgers played two years of college soccer at IPFW, and six years of semi-pro soccer for the Dayton Thunderbirds and Milwaukee Siams. He has coached at the Rec, Select, Travel Club, Middle School and High School level. For the last 9 years he has conducted private training sessions, small group clinics, team camps, and club and school train ing events all over the northeast Indiana area, and was recently awarded as the Coerver Coaching licensee for the state of Indiana. He lives in Fort Wayne and is married to Michelle, his beautiful and talented wife, who teaches and heads the English department at Woodland High School.

Profile: Phil holds a National USSF "D" license with strong emphasis on youth development for the past four years. In addition to working with the Citadel players, Phil was the U8 Coordinator for FWUSA Academy. He joins our coaching staff with experience in teaching the technical and the motivational aspects of the game to youth players. Phil played many years of club soccer and has worked with U6/U8/U10 programs with Future Stars, FWUSA Academy and FW Sport Club. Phil also works with Cory Rodgers of Columbia Soccer Academy/Coerver Coaching that develops players of all ages. Phil will be obtaining his National USSF 'D' license in the Spring of 08.

Servello, Gino

Staff Coach, '92 Boys White

Profile: Gino is originally from Norwood, Massachusetts. He was a varsity starter all 4 years in high school in two different states (Andover, Kansas and Merrimack, New Hampshire). Gino was named to All State and All League teams 3 times and elected team captain his senior year. He was named captain of the NH Lions Cup Team for a charity match against Vermont. Gino attended Bentley in Waltham, Massachusetts, where as a player he started all four years in one of the toughest Division 2 conferences in the country (they were at one time ranked #20 in the country). He was elected captain his senior year. Gino graduated with a BS in Finance in May 2007.

Sharpe, Blake

Staff Coach

Profile: Blake played Citadel for eight years. He was on the ODP State team U13-U16. Blake played four-year varsity starter at Canterbury School. Blake was the 2003 Indiana Gatorade State Player of the Year and was two-time NSCAA High school All-American, Indiana IHSAA State Champion 2001, and the IHSAA's 2002 Indiana State Player of the Year. Blake was a four-year starter at University of South Florida. He also played for Ft. Wayne Fever PDL team '03-'05. He participated in the Canterbury Soccer Camp as a coach from 2003-2006. Blake has been a member of Ft. Wayne Sport Club Men's team since 2000.

'90 Girls White

Profile: Nate has been coaching since 1996.  He played 4 years as a Goalkeeper @ Moody Bible Institute and started the girls soccer program at Freedom Baptist High School in 2000. Won a Michigan State Division IV Championship with the Boy's program in 2002 and was the Michigan Division IV Coach of the year in 2002.  Nathan holds an NSCAthe National Coaching diploma as well as Goalkeeping I & II diplomas. Nathan is currently the women's head coach at Huntington University. He is married to Alison and has 1 son, Payton.

'94 Boys Blue Head Coach

Profile: Chris holds the National USSF "D" License. He played club soccer in Logansport, and he was a four year letterman at Peru High School. He was First Team All-Conference his junior and senior years; Defensive Player of the Year and Team MVP his Senior Year. Chris also Played for IPFW in '05 and '06. Chris will be attending the National USSF "D" class in July.

Werling, Jamie

Staff Coach

Profile: Jamie holds the National USSF "E" license and iis in his senior year at Saint Francis. He started all three years playing various positions. He played at Bellmont High School and led the team in scoring his junior and senior year and received the Top Offensive Player award both years. Jamie was a captain his senior year. He also played club for Citadel for two years and Fort Wayne Fever for two years. He was the assistant coach at Bellmont Middle School for three years and coached U-10 and U-12 boys for the Decatur Fire.

Wyss, Martin

Staff Coach

Profile: Martin attended University of Saint Francis and played soccer for four years as a varsity player, and as Captain his senior year. He has served as a coach for Future Stars as well as for The Dome's in-house youth teams. Martin played for Ada High School (four year starter and captain junior year). He played for many club teams including West Central United (Ohio), Elite FC (Ohio), and Citadel U20 (IN).
